The 2009 Nobel Peace Prize Recipient!

The following is a guest post from Doubting Thomas:

The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize came as a huge surprise today as people across the world found out the Obama received the award. BUT FOR WHAT? What has Obama done to deserve one of the most prestigious awards on the planet? The man hasn’t done anything but run our country into more debt and isn’t even through one term as president. And yet he joins only 2 other sitting presidents in the history of our country that have received the award…Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson,

“Roosevelt was honored largely for brokering an agreement between Russia and China, and Wilson took the award for his role in ending World War I and creating the League of Nations.”

I like what this fox news article stated: “Giving President Obama the Nobel Peace Prize is a “premature canonization” and an “embarrassment” to the process of designating a laureate, a presidential historian says.

But then again, this isn’t the first time that the committee has botched it…remember 2007?

Patronising the Pope… and the American People

The following is a guest post by a good friend of mine, whom I’ll refer to as Doubting Thomas. Here it is:

Earlier this month, President Obama took a trip to the Vatican.  During his stay, the Pope  unexpectedly gave the president “a booklet explaining Vatican opposition to practices such as abortion and embryonic stem cell research.”

According to Father Federico Lombardi, , a Vatican spokesperson, “Obama told the pope of his commitment to reduce the number of abortions and of his attention and respect for the positions of the Catholic Church.”

The first thing to came to my mind after I read that: What a bunch of bologna!

You have got to be kidding me!  Reduce abortions… kind of like when…

He opposed prohibiting minors from crossing state lines for abortions in 2008

or when…

He opposed notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions in 2006

or when…

He opposed preventing partial-birth abortions in 2008

or when…

He opposed legislation protecting  born-alive failed abortions in 2008

or when…

He promised Planned Parenthood, “The first thing I’d do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That’s the first thing I’d do. ” (2007)

Did anyone tell Mr.  Obama that the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) would eliminate almost every state and local restriction on abortion?  It would not only erase bans on partial birth abortions, but  it would also expand the limits of who can perform these abortions.  That sounds like a sure way to reduce the number of abortions to me!

What Mr. Obama was really doing at the Vatican was what he has been doing to the American people for the past year and a half- subtly, whispering in people’s ears meaningless garbage, all the while, gathering support so he can silently push his own agenda forward while the nation is asleep.
